    Getting Around Forums

    What's your main means of navigation when you're on a forum? I use the quick jump menu a lot, but do occasionally use the breadcrumb at the top.

    I never use next/previous thread, however.

    What about the rest of you? I'm sure we all have our own ways of getting around.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    Navigation bar > New posts. Then I just browse through the results. I use this as I only have net access over the weekends, and I'd like to catch up on everything I missed. Lately, this is proving less and less effective, especially as the timeout on search results has been shortened from 24 hours to something like 8, in the past two or so weeks. Usually takes me aorund 48 hours to get through the ~200 results (Given that I don't go through the whole lot in one go - do 3 pages, go off for a few hours, lather, rinse). :/

    I used to go through all forums navigating form the front page and the kind of tree view at the top right.

    Then I found the new posts button and use that most of the time now. Mainly because as Eldren says if you not online that often it makes a fairly simple way of catching up. It does mean you can miss some stuff though so I sometimes check through the forums manually if I have time.

    Oh yeah and when I'm using firefox I often have a few different tabs of the forums open specially on a slow connection where some can be loading while i'm reading others .

    I use Firefox, so I just open new sections or threads in a separate new tab, and close after I've read/replied to it.

    Open the main page, then open tabs for (generally) GD, Audio Visual, FS/FT, Bargain Hunt, and sometimes the hardware bit as well. Then just open each thread and use the back button on the mouse.

    Mouse buttons. Back and forward. CBA using the jumpy things or most navigational features of this site/forums, or other sites. I would go mad if I tryed.
    Any interesting threads, I always right click, so that I can close the browser,and they will reappear with it latter.

    I am lazy, I like things to be effortless.

    Well in the morning first I check my emails, click all the Hexus notification links that I want to, reply to thread if necessary, then at the top of the page where it has:

    HEXUS.net Forums > HEXUS Community > General Discussion

    I click HEXUS.net Forums, and start from the bottom (AV forums, C&B, General Discussion), and look for threads worth posting. So it's either read thread, post, back button on mouse 3 times, find new thread, etc. Or if I don't post it's just back button once

    I don't use any of the menus or more obscure options, just the links on the main forum page.
