Substitute sis for a good/close friend, her mum even or anyone else she might end up spending ages 'catching up' with on the phone. Sometimes it's surprising how much time my wife will spend catching up with one of her sisters over a phone call in the evening, even if she had just spent the day with that very sister.

That is a bit to the extreme side. Well if you're living together seems a bit harder. On the other hand, why not game together?

If you're not living together, why not use the classic "I'm taking a nap" or just flat out tell her that you want to play some games? Never had a girlfriend that wasn't understanding and I did have a lot of fun when we played together.
