Picked up a Corsair 700D a few years back for £100 off ebay (bargain!), thinking that I would never need to buy another case as it's so damn big. Now I'm sat here contemplating selling it for the very same reason! Not into water cooling etc so a large part of the case will never be used. It's a lovely case with some soundproofing though. And it scares people.

Do you have issues with dust? I'm considering between the HAF XB and Corsair A540.

Planning to get a Fractal Design Define R5. I have a Ark Miditower wich I absolutely love but couldn't take with me to the UK and the R5 looks awesome. Planning to suspend the hard drives in elastics so the removable cages are a definite plus.

Re: What case are you using right now?

At the moment I'm running my main rig in a Cooltek W2 (in silver without a window) which was bought to get my PC on a set of shelves rather than on my desk (where it's in the way of my monitor mounts) or on the floor (where it was sucking in dust like a hoover).

I like the layout of the W2 though the front fan intake is very restricted and I may end up moving the front fans to the bottom fan mounts. Daft really because if they'd left the top of the front panel open - like the bottom of the front panel - it would probably cool quite well. I've replaced the stock fans as they were very flimsily built and I had good fans (Scythe Gentle Typhoons) in my old case that I could re-use.

The W2 replaced a Lian Li B25 - though I still have the case at the moment. I love the look of the B25 but it was just too big and (as above) either in the way or hoovering up dust in my cramped box room / study. I've had it ages and it's served me well though I ended up removing the front HDD cages as I only need a single SSD in my main rig and the cages really restricted the front intake. I also had to remove the front fan filter boxes because they rattled which is unusual for a Lian Li case (I had a venerable Lian Li PC 60 before that and have had a couple of their "cube" cases too).

I also have a virtual server PC inside a SilverStone SG09 which was also bought to fit into the same set of shelves. Of the two the SG09 is fair bit noisier and was a right pain in the proverbial to build. The SG09 replaced a Fractal Design R4 (which I also still have!). The R4 is hosting a PC graveyard box of bits at the moment but will probably be sold on.

My HTPC lives in a SilverStone SG05 which runs a Core2Quad (sort of - actually a cheap Xeon L5410, and the whole thing is in bits at the moment) with 4GB of DDR2 and a GTX 750 Ti. The CPU is cooled using a Corsair H60 with 2 x 120 x 25mm fans in a push pull config - it's actually quite a roomy case with the right config. I had to remove the 3.5" drive bay (just the slimline ODD bay left) to get the H60 to fit (even with just 1 fan) so the SSD (the only 'hard drive' in the case) is stuck to the side of the PSU which some duct tape! Once the HDD bay was gone it was quite clear there was room for 2 fans and I thought what the hell and stuck 2 on with both running at 7V.

Finally I have an original (N36L) HP MicroServer which is stock apart from the PSU - I'm using an external brick with a Pico PSU as again this is much quieter than the stock PSU was.

(you might think I have more PC gear than I need... and you'd be right)

Just moving from a Antec 1200 to a Corsair 750D. Seems I like big cases.

Re: What case are you using right now?

Fractal Design R5, for no other reason than the R4 seemed to be a popular case so I just opted for the updated version since the prices were around the same. I honestly didn't know much about cases or what kind of features I wanted out of a case when buying one. So can't really go wrong with a popular choice.

And it turned out to be really easy to build with; thumb screws, easy/many fan mounting options, easy cable management (although can't imagine how a case would have bad cable management options but people seem to comment on it being good), keeps things things quieter than they would be without the sound dampening stuff, looks nice, no complaints other then the window gets scrached up pretty easily but I don't get bothered by that kind of thing since I don't sit and stare at it all day.

1, Old Gateway 700 full Tower Waiting for new innards. Absolutely solid pressed steel case, Top PSU. Love it.
2, Corsair 600T White Edition. Not as solid as the Gateway, but really beautiful and nicely built. Wanted to mod it to accept 280mm top rad, but it is just too beautiful to alter it. I can live with it as it is.

    Silverstone PS07 nice and compact.
I had my previous Chieftec BX for 11 years before. Shame that Chieftec havent updated the design for 120/140mm fans, PSU at the bottom etc
