Re: Debate: Limit on Child Tax Credits (2 children only)

Child benefit original paid from the second child and paid to the mother so that they had an income apart from their husband who was presumed to fritter his wage away on the ggees and booze etc.
This in a time of stay at home mothers.
    Is this still the case?

Re: Debate: Limit on Child Tax Credits (2 children only)

The policy to limit on child tax credits being restricted to just two children is just plain short term thinking. Just typical Tory nonsense.

These children are our future tax payers. Especially important as we become top heavy with pensioners. Surely there's a need to produce more children unless there'a plan to lift the immigration cap.

While I agree in principle with the idea, the reality is that it ultimately effects the child whom is completely innocent and not at fault for his/her parents inability to live within their means.

Creating yet another generation (or continuing) of child poverty.

Re: Debate: Limit on Child Tax Credits (2 children only)

I think that two is more than fair. Invest the money into better state education (including strict discipline if necessary), to provide the kids with the tools to climb themselves out of poverty. In my opinion, surviving on financial support only make you less poor. But to really get out of poverty, you need to do it yourself with the best tool there is: education.

Also, we need future tax payers that contribute more than they cost. So it isn't a case of the more the merrier.
