    working for PCWorld?

Anyone in here working for PCWorld? I applied for a pc technician job there and got past the telephone interview, and now have an hour technical test. Any hints as to what could be on it so I can swot up?

    cheers!

PCWorld? tred carefully round these parts mate...!

an hour's technical test? well could simply be how to build a computer - which if you're any good (and assuming that being here you are) you will easily out shine all the other moneys working there. Just don't say that a P4 makes your internet much faster, please...

well, a job's a job I suppose. As a hexus user then perhaps you can help correct PCWorld's misgivings to the general public and actually know what you're talking about to give accurate advice on a great number of things...

Go for it, a job's a job at the end of the day. And a job working with PC's is always a bonus. Will make a change having someone with knowledge working for them. PC World employee baiting is a favourite sport among Hexusites

of course, it's always possible that it's just going to be the rather depressingly easy multiple guess test that pcsc use to test their staff... 30 hardware / 30 software questions.
    Quoth the server... "404"

I once applied for a job at PC World - never got an interview. I think my CV may have scared them off.

Somebody at college works at PC World... but I don't know who.

    Best of luck!

Whats the pay like at pc world????

To be honest im sure if you know the difference between ide and SATA then im sure you wont have a problem.

I had issues with one pcw dude the other day when i was lookin for the sata data cable and he kept giving me the rounded ide cables.

At that point I'd have lectured him about the differences between parallel and serial data transfers and hence why the cables weren't interchangeable... oh, and the fact that the connectors are different.

It's around £14k for a 5/7 week, and there are bonuses for certain things. Pension and share schemes are there and there's discount in all Dixons group stores. Chance for promotion to store manager etc.

Well i'm off in about 40 mins to do the test, so wish me luck!
