Next Top Gear - Now confirmed coming to Amazon Prime in 2016.
I also found this story today about Mr Clarkson.
Missing Dog
Is that because Amazon think it is OK to knock their employees about?
Would I watch the new prog from this trio? Yes. At least, I'd give it a go.
But not on Prime. Don't currently have it, don't have any need for or interest in most of Prime, and certainly not enough interest in TG Mk2 to pay for Prime to get it. So unless it ends up on mainstream channels later, oh well.
With the exception of UHD material, Netflix is one subscription for all content service, Amazon Prime is not. You pay for the service and then on top of that, there is an extra charge for some of the newer/better content.
I also found the overall standard of content on Amazon to be considerably lower. It seemed like it had a lot more stuff that I will never care about than Netflix, which on the whole, has a large quantity of good stuff. Obviously this is somewhat subjective.
Although this is a perhaps step in the right direction, up until now the quality of Amazons exclusive/home grown content pales in comparison to Netflix.
Netflix have vastly better device support, almost everything has Netflix support these days. Amazon's support isnt bad, but again, it pales in comparison.
I personally think the top gear guys have made a huge mistake with going for Amazon and I think the only reason they'd make that decision would be better money. Could be a real mistake for them.
Perhaps, but Dave and many of the other channels run by the Scripps group are still affiliated with the BBC which could cause an issue. Licensing is always pretty complex with this stuff.

I didn't know about the extra pricing, that would indeed put me off.
Thanks for the info ;-)
Good news is new top gear next year. Bad news...Amazon Prime. Well maybe it will end up on other channels as well. I wonder if they'll keep the same formula though. There were a couple of interesting challenges and almost all the special ones were great.
Expect another raise to the price of Prime. Don't want this!

Well that gives Amazon another point for Prime, but streaming simply isn't viable on my connection and with a data cap. Still waiting for them to split postage and streaming, I can only hope.
I think they might also hire it out to local broadcasters. Maybe not BBC though
Saw a comment on Facebook "now has never been a better moment to cancel your Prime membership"
Joking (?) apart, I thing TG as we knew it is dead and buried. The BBC version will be different with new presenters, and a re-launch on Prime is unlikely to have the same mass appeal, and whatever they call it, it will be compared with the previous version, unless they make changes themselves.
It certainly won't persuade me to take out a Prime subscription.
