I live in Preston and was amazed to see people stocking up huge amounts of bottled water. In emergencies I can always do shots of Vimto

Thankfully I'm a little further south than this, but thanks for the heads up - I drink tap water pretty much exclusively.

Nasty hope no-one's been affected (and your funniness is unrelated/shortlived, stevie).

Minor bit of nominative determinism at work in that United Utilities' chief scientific officer is called Mr Padley..

    more info here http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england...shire-33816989
including a map of the affected area.

I'm unsure due to conflicting info, whether where I am can get water pumped from the north. could be proposed plans, an election pledge, wishful thinking, some truth to it, or what used to happen back in the 70's. but I have heard that we get/got water from the lakes at one point or another.
    I just don't know.

anywho.. switched to the 1l carton drinks for a bit, was using mix-it-yourself typ, lkike vimto, Robinsons plus tap water. drink about 2L a day

Yes, to be safe (it says so on the United Utilities website - sorry can't link). I think it's only alright not to use boiled water for things like showering, washing clothes.

Just to put this in perspective, it was discovered during routine testing, and (afaik) there have not been any reported cases resulting from this.

I wonder what the homeopaths will do if they get crypto?!

From the telemetry I can get my hands on: it looks of it they've restarted using some of the sources at Franklaw again today which could be a good sign for tomorrow/wednesday. Microbial testing takes so long.

Re: Contaminated Water Warning for parts of Lancashire

You should boil your water for 3 minutes.

You can use unboiled water for washing plates and stuff but ensure it fully dried before using. Showering should be fine, just don't swallow it!
