What's happened to chewing gum?

I don't like those small bits of crunchy coated gum which provide an insufficient volume of viscous munchability for my cavernous maw. Instead, give me a good old fashion stick or tab which is correctly sized together with a wrapping suitable for hygienic disposal once optimal mastication has taken place.

But I since a few weeks ago, I can't find them in shops any more.

Wrigley's orbit was my fodder of choice, but apparently since rebranding to 'extra' these aren't available in my preferred form factor, only the little sweet-like insufficiencies.

"5" gum is in stick form, albeit a slightly more squat format than the old Orbit

I still see sticks round here. Newsagents and larger petrol stations seem the best.
Failing that, just use more than one sweetie.

Depending on your politics, and newspaper of choice, it will either be due to UKIP/migrants/the SNP/Margaret Thatcher/the EU/Tony Blair or continuing ramifications from the death of Diana. Surprised to hear they've ditched orbit though.

You can still get the sticks from places like Amazon etc.

Yeah I've noticed sticks seem to be less readily available myself, and also prefer them. I'm not a big gum chewer though so hadn't given it much thought but I'll keep an eye out for sticks.

I checked at my local petrol garage last night. No orbit that I could see.
