My understanding is that the premise of the apps breaks the DPA. Storing personal opinions on people would place the app owners in very dodgy water.....and that seems to be the sole premise of the app!

How the hell is having people rated in a public forum not considered bullying? Please refer to our terms and conditions that you will have to agree to before joining and while being a user of our app. We do not tolerate profanity, bullying,

Good luck getting this absurd (cr)app off the ground, so many people will be adverse to it. And regardless of where they are in the world, this HAS to breach data protection/libel laws. If it doesn't, I suspect their servers will be under constant attack and DDoS if the law won't stop them.
However, the thing I found more slightly amusing is that after 5 minutes of hearing about this company and looking in to them, they are apparently deleting lots of negative comments about them and the app from Twitter and FB et al. They are even trying to get Twitter to shut down an account that is mocking the two of them. Yet they want to create an app allowing anyone to do exactly that to anyone else, without the ability for the target to stop it? Talk about hypocrisy!

This is quite shocking to be honest, I don't have twitter, facebook or anything and to think someone can create a profile in your name without your consent is pretty disgusting. Everywhere you look though its negative comments, in fact I haven't seen anyone say anything good about it. Looks like a petition has been started to! Petition

Maybe someone decided to move April Fool's Day forward 6 months?

I don't know much about the law, but is it even legal in the UK?
directhex - Do you mean support for or against it?

Yes you are correct, but I never said it was in the UK, I was asking if it was legal in the UK.
And fair enough, I still don't think someone should be allowed to create a profile about you in your name without your permission though.
