Smile Are you working between Xmas and new Year?

I'm having to work these three days, including New years eve (not chuffed) because I would have had to join the company three months earlier to book the leave (they saw me coming).

Just wondering if anyone else is working now, or even worse over the weekends as well?

I can't really complain 'cos I had a great Christmas with my family and I don't actually have to do much unless one of our sites goes down (Please be nice all you bored Christmas hackers) so It's probably too much time on Hexus, and nose in a C# textbook for me these next few days.

Post here, keep the Christmas cheer going

Kes, why were you working Boxing day? Did you get lots of overtime?

Yeah, I did 5 minutes this morning and now I'm sitting at my desk feeling bored and slightly guilty hoping the phone doesn't ring

My boss is away so can't give me any work, so all I can do of value is some studying (which I'll probably do, because I am enough of a geek to be interested).

Because that's the sort of job I have, and yes I should get some overtime, hehe.

I am working/have worked all days except Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.

Public holidays don't carry over if they fall on a weekend like this year.
But then, I think we get a few more than in the UK throughout the rest of the year - plus I get 2 days off in lieu for working 23rd December.

It's a little more complicated here as we support Finland, Norway, Sweden and Denmark which have different ideas of public holidays, so often have to have at least minimal cover for Swedish-only holidays.

Aye Im working today through to Friday with the possiblity of having to come in next Mon if I dont get all my stuff sorted by then....

I dont really mind tho as Ive only been in this job for 3 weeks and am loving it - plus its casual dress as pretty much every other department is out.
Besides, I can hack anything after working in the pub on Xmas day!

Working today tommorow and friday morning. Great today so far, Only one here and have had a mail server drive fail. Which is in Bristol, I am in Essex which has meant 40mins on the phone in a queue to HP. 6hrs later we are back up and running, not too bad. Numerous other issues as well. That and I get lumbered with changing 15 backup tapes scattered all over the place. Oh well at least I don't have to do it every day of the year!
