    Reverse-showrooming Amazon Books

    Nice one

sort-of related qotd (just because I'm looking an example now) - why do people answer customer questions on Amazon with 'I couldn't tell you/mine isn't that model/I've never tried that function on mine/I bought it for someone else so I don't know/I haven't got mine any more & can't remember' etc?

Because sometimes you get an email saying "User soandso asks this question about your recent purchase:" and if someone is the sort of person who thinks the world is all about them then they click the link and answer to the best of their ability however bad that might be

Having worked in retail a short while I knew the feeling of talking with a customer for 15-20 mins, walking them through options, answering questions and then having quite shamelessly proclaim, "Thanks. I'll go get it online though, because it's cheaper." Can't really avoid it. However, Amazon themselves actually facilitating and encouraging it? Talk about barefaced cheek.

I don't have this sort of tech/don't app/don't scan stuff instore etc so a lot of what's possible passes me by, but I realise a lot of it is about 'cutting down numbers of steps' in any given endeavour.. heaven forfend something takes a few stages, let's trim one of those vital second-saving, already-pandering steps! #luddite

With all this tech wouldn't you think they could come up with something to banjax this sort of thing? Ok tricky to make a barcode that'll scan when you need it to, and won't scan when you want it not to, but meh, can't be beyond somebody.

The link should permanently block them from the internet.
