    Cload data backup

    Hi Guys,

I was wondering does anyone know of any cloud based backups that are free and legit? Or if there are no free ones which payed ones are good? I just need it to backup lower than 5Gb.

If you have Windows 10, I believe Onedrive comes with 15GB free.

Dropbox basic is free and comes with 2GB.

Thats true Dropbox is possible. Don't know if 2GB is quite tight. I shall have a look thanks.

I think google drive comes with 15GB free storage as standard...? I wouldn't exactly call it a safe backup solution though. If you need to securely back up < 8GB of data then DVDs are probably your best bet, or flash storage? Any particular reason you want cloud?

Personally, I'm not sure that I would call ANY cloud based storage "safe".

    Re: Cload data backup

I need it as a shop has its data on a PC. He would like the data to backup to his laptop at home. By safe I mean to use a legit product. Is Google drive free? I don't think so?

    Re: Cload data backup

Well, I'm currently getting 15GB of storage on Google Drive and I'm not paying anything for it, so that's free by at least one definition...

OK, so they don't actually want backup, they want synchronised access to the data from more than one device? That's a bigger ask, and without knowing what kind of data it is (i.e. does it change regularly, does it need to be updatable etc.) there's no way to give a simple answer. I used to do this kind of consultancy for a living, after all

Simplest solution is a USB flash drive: a fiver will get you a wide range of 16GB devices that could be used for the master copy of the data, then he just needs to plug the drive into either the laptop or the PC in the shop as required. If he needs something more complex than that he really should get professional advice...

There is iCloud too, but I'm not sure I'd recommend any cloud service for secure backup, simply because you cannot guarantee availability of your data.

Does this include customer data/credit card etc stuff? Do NOT back up data like this to the cloud unless you really know what you're doing.
