    Jerry Springer - The Opera

After all the controversy....is anybody watching this?

I doubt there has ever been a program shown on TV with more swearing in it!

Oh and it is truly awful!!!!

not watched it, but all the controversy around it has been ridiculous. Was listening to radio 5 live the other day and they were reporting about the people outside tv centre burning their licences because of it.

Don't these people have remote controls. Haven't they noticed that programs like the Young Ones and Bottom (which contain some of the most depraved and brilliant toilet humour) have been on BBC for years.

    Jeez

I was going to tape it, but I forgot. But when I got home and saw if on, I'm glad I didn't bother. From the few minutes I saw, it was really really rubbish!!!

It's quite entertaining. I think it's the kind of thing that's much better live though.

It probably was much better live, and I too don't care how much swearing is in it...I was just commenting on how I can't believe there has ever been a TV show with this much swearing on.....but it was truly horrendous quality TV!

well, the bbc isn't getting any better saddly.
the only thing worth watching in the past month - including the xmas hols - were harry potter, tombraider , all the little britain and deadringer progs as well as alistair mcgowan AND (probably the best so far) the big cat week/diaries they had on just this past week...apart from that. nout.
ok, so can't avoid the news either...

Currently watching it now and I think it's $%^"*, ok it's got lots of swear words in it and imo is in very bad taste concerning it's inclusion of Christian faith which if it were any other faith there would truely lead to riots breaking out (Apart from Buddhists as that would be against their belief).

Naff, Crap, and I hope we dont have to keep paying the BBC licence money for too long to come as that in itself is an affront that far exceeds any in your face musical.

I think it went a bit too far when there were people dressed up in ku-klux-klan outfits tapdancing and singing "**** white, black, jews".....

In all honesty I think its probably the most disturbing thing I have seen on TV in a long time and the inane bad language and black humour was quite frankly....crap.

Exactly that, by the BBC putting it in the public eye it has opened a debate here and invoked a member to do what you have done - break the rules.

We don't want swearing here. I expect this debate to be kepted sensible.

Thought it was quite funny at the start but then it was pretty much the same for the next half hour so got a bit boring. Switched over and watched something else

It was so dire I couldn't watch it long enough to be 'offended' by anything, I have an extreme dislike for theatre anyway, so it was never going to be a result to start with!

Following on from this - my point is not of the opera causing swearing on the forums but it invokes it within public discussion

I taped it because we had people round for dinner, but we ended up watching the first half because we were enjoying it so much. Really quality TV IMO. The point of it is that it is an opera, albeit a 'rock opera'. If you don't like opera then you're not going to like this, that doesn't make it rubbish, it just means that you don't like it.

As for all the 'controversy'....what a lot of nonsense. I had no time at all for the Sikhs who protested at that play in Birmingham, and I have no time at all for touchy Christians who can't take a joke.

    Rich :¬)
