install ipcop and a second nic and turn your redundant box into a firewall for your network.
install linux and use the box as a webserver, fileserver, irc bouncer, download machine, number cruncher, experimental play thing.
rip the machine to shreds and turn it into many keyrings.
    sell it on hexus.
    sell it on ebay.
pop it in the loft and forget about it for another decade. it'll be more interesting then .

Well I've somehow ended up with a main gaming/web surfing/work PC, a media PC (MP3s, DivX and such), and with my housemate a Mandrake Linux file storage server (using Samba). Ohter ideas would be to use as a firewall, donate it to charity, or, if its really old and useless, to experiment with different ways of destroying it, videoing all the fun. TNT anyone?

I used my spare machine as a writing machine (reviews and school work and all this) and now it has become my main work rig (do all my work, web dev, msn, web browsing on it) and all for nothing!
