Ah yes, Quadraphonic sound, never really caught on because of multiple competing and incompatible standards, which attempted to solve the problem of encoding 4 channels in limited bandwidth media in a way that didn't have an impact on the sound quality for those listening on conventional stereo equipment.

Before you order the speed belt, wait till my option has arrived for my Dual. Its a nitrile rubber o ring A guy in ebay is selling red silicone rubber belts for the 505-2 but they are still pricey. Ill let you know how mine goes.

I now also have a Dual 505-2 Im working on. Bit of hum when hand is near the headshell, I think its cuz the headshell isnt mating with the arm properly, bit of rumble, got to put new rubbers in the springs, but apart from that its a good un I nicked the lid off it for my Mantra

Nicked the lid off it, sacrilege!!

Thanks for the heads up on the belt, will hang off buying one for now, the speed change belt is a bit stretched, although it changes it can take a couple of goes. Its great that there is so much info out there on these, picked this one up cheap, but really enjoying playing some Leftfield and Faithless on it, going to treat myself to some new vinyl probably starting with Mike Oldfield's Songs of Distant Earth.
