    Re: Concorde flies again!

Funnily enough, there is some stuff going on with Concorde from earlier this year and Airbus amongst others are looking into supersonic flight

The SR71 that (for me, at least) came up next was pretty impressive too. I think it was Roger Knobel.

I'd love to have a good, long close-up look at either, because the engineering looks very impressive indeed.

I like that they managed to get the nose to tilt.
A bit shakey take off but brilliant landing.

    Re: Concorde flies again!

Whilst I get they are neat models, they don't really have any of the 'magic' that the transonic originals had, because well they can't go fast at all.

I think http://boom.aero/ are the most exciting people at the moment, if they can put up by the end of next year, they've potentially got a huge cash funding boost from Virgin. The team behind it has some industry vets and good backing from the likes of Y Combinator.

It's going to be very interesting to see what happens with this, in particular the safety issues around material wear, I think they can happily make a scale flying prototype and even get it transonic. But I think their issue will be competing with the running costs, whilst keeping that price point dream

Still interesting, and whilst I'd not put money on it, it's probably the best chance for consumer supersonic flight anytime soon!

Indeed. The Red Arrows two-plane synchronised flight a bit later (about 12 min) was good too.
