PCZONE and CPC
I stopped reading them a long time ago as you could get the information and similar articles and reviews online a month or two earlier than the mags, so I started saving myself some money and just scoured the net for a while.

"Free speech includes not only the inoffensive but the irritating, the contentious, the eccentric, the heretical, the unwelcome and the provocative provided it does not tend to provoke violence. Freedom only to speak inoffensively is not worth having."
I get quite a few mags through the post (thanks to work, and I just cannot believe just how bad PCW has become over the years.
I've been reading it regularly for the last decade and it has just managed to deterioate over the last few years and is now finding itself playing catch up to everyone else (check out their "modding" section to see what I mean)
For now, Custom PC is by far the easiest and most pleasent to read (bearing in mind I have to read most of the crap that gets dumped into my in-tray), and GigaHz is slowly getting there I reckon. The first few issues were very iffy, but I think its starting to find its place.
I get most computer mags free before they even come out.
The only mag i buy is micromart, one because i dont get it free but even if i didnt
get the others it would be the one i buy. Its cheap its weekly.
PC Extreme has gone down hill after the editor changed i dont think the new one
really gets what the mag was about and has turned it into just another comp mag
and seems like PC Format a lot more. CPC I find a little boring and because they did
the PSU test at Tagan labs in germany and the Tagan won I dont trust them anymore.
GigaHz is pretty good broad subjects lots of pages but i wouldnt buy it.
I have fond memories of ST Format - ah them days when the internet was a type of medium sized fishing accessory...
Now THAT was a magazine. Cherished it I did , the ST Format coverdisk was the work of gods I tell thee.
Bring back zzap 64! A computer mag with a bit of humour thrown in.
Remember Crash, a Spectrum magazine from a million years ago? Now that was quailty.
I always try and get Custom PC as its a good read. I usually read my mates copy of EDGE too.

Hexus is all I need.
Used to read PC Format up until a few years back. Then they had an issue where they criticised PC World for their prices. It turns out that PC World threatened to withdraw their advertising from the magazine and so PC Format published a lovely article about how they were wrong and actually PC World's prices were very competative. Not much point buying a magazine whose opinions you can't trust...
custom pc and micromart
or if there is a good group test > read it in whsmith or buyit! lol, or subscribe if theres a good gift lol
Subscription to CustomPC, and i pick up PC-PRO or PCW every now and then. Had issue 1 of GigaHz and thought for a 5er its a rip off. Theres lots of info in it but theres no need for a computer mag to have such a high print quality. The High quality print is probably why its soo expensive. IMHO ne way. Custom PC is the best at the moment for me.
3D World and Computer Arts on subscription, and that's about it..
Everything else is utterly pointless (it's out of date by miles by the time it gets to press)
