My wife just sent me a picture of (what we think is) a raccoon, outside her work just outside North London, and I thought they were a banned species, should she call the local council? RSPCA?

Not that keen on giving the DM my traffic, but a quick search on google reveals scare stories from them about 'taking over'. So probably all OK.
Give me a sec, I'll try to post the piccie.
I think I've been had. I couldn't see the detail in a small piccie in SMS.
What do you think? Reason for concern? Looks vicious...

I didn't know they were smokers
Not only are they coming over here, eating the food of good, honest, BRITISH pests, they're putting a huge burden on our NHS! Parasites!

Clearly the DM's new journalist doesn't understand what their editor means when he asks for "an article about 'Coons* coming in and taking over"!!
They're only recently banned, anyway:

Those who were already here as of August are to be considered naturalised British citizens, while those arriving after then will be put on a limited 3-month working visa.
*I also note that people have started omitting that word from 'Bluetick Coonhound' dogs, for some insane PC reason...
Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.
