Armistice Day Silence - now many minutes silence at your work place?

Where I work - and I'm not going to say where - we are asked to join in with a one minute silence at 11am on Armistice day, or the Friday closest to 11/11.

I've unsuccessfully tried to get the bottom of why two minutes silence are not observed and was wondering what other work places do.

One minute?
Two minute?
Other period?
Not observed?

No mention, but we all tend to manage ourselves so unless there was an emergency situation we can freely observe it. Doesn't quite seem to be the same thing, though, doing it alone. Feels like it should be a community thing.

It's always been THE Two Minute Silence in every single place I've known.
The name tells you how long it should be.

I seem to remember in the past one minute was fairly common then suddenly everybody was doing two. I think we do two - not that it ever really works.

I rarely know what time it is, and rarely talk to the people around me. It slips by and I realise at 11:15 I've missed it.

Only ever known one minute in church, but that was other remembrances rather than The Two Minute silence.

It's 2 minutes here, but it tends to be 2 minutes of not talking rather than 2 minutes silence. There's always still plenty of keyboard tapping and mouse clicking going on, which rather defeats the spirit of it.

I once worked somewhere , where we all went into the glass auditorium... every company... we all stood there together.

Was super emotional and increased team work and relationships INSTANTLY between companies who never spoke before.

2 minutes where i work.

Remember back in my youth working on the checkouts at a supermarket and making the store announcements. A busy store brought to a silent standstill for 2 minutes. Irked some people who just wanted to buy things but management backed the staff.

A 2 minute silence that is enforced goes against everything those that we observe the silence on behalf of have fought for.
It should never be enforced. Anywhere.
I think some people need to have a think about forcing others to bend to their will
However I personally observed my 2 minute silence working from home.

You're not forced to be silent for 2 minutes.... but in order for others to have their silence, you do have to allow it. This means going elsewhere to make your noise.

If you don't want to be a part of it, then you must be apart from it.

At 11:04 I realised I had quietly missed it again.
