I am after some freeware that checks your systems hardware and software reliability. Also it needs to give me a report at the end.

If you mean CPU stability, do a search for prime95. This is a program that finds bigger prime numbers. You won't need that side of it though. Do the stability check instead. Leave it to run for 24 hours, and if it hasn't got any errors after that, then it's stable.
For memory, try memtest96.
I just use what ajbrun said. I trust Memtest and Prime95 to find any errors with basic stability. The only other thing I occasionally use is 3DMark looping so that I can test the graphics card as well.
