    good office chair?

    Hi all,

currently my chairs leather is peeling off and becoming rather nasty all round so looking for a decent office chair.

i originally was thinking of getting a AK racing Link but thinking about it id rather spend at most £120-140 or preferably a little less as its rather a large amount just for a chair...

    any recommendations going?

    Re: good office chair?

I've just got the Ikea Marcus, it is very good.
Although it doesn't make it clear in the advert the seat is real leather, not that coated PVC rubbish.
Like the look of that racing office one also.

I like Aerons, but they are fiercely expensive, too much so for home use.

    Re: good office chair?

I've also got the Markus, however mine has already started to deform (the seat). It has become uncomfortable to sit on. Will have to take it back.

    Still a nice chair though.

    Re: good office chair?

I've never really got the bucket seat thing. Racing seats are designed primarily to hold you in place, with comfort as something secondary. If we were talking S Class seats then maybe. I have a costco one (their 'student' chair) I think, but am considering upgrading as I'm now working at home a lot more and it is a little uncomfortable for spending extended periods typing. However I may save the budget toward a height adjustable desk instead.

I just went through the ideal of visiting the Croydon ikea on a Sunday afternoon, this Markus chair have better been worth it or you'd all better lawyer up.

Just assembled it. I'm unsure if it's worth £125 but its much better than my chair at work. Assembly was painless. My man cave is looking much better now.

    Re: good office chair?

Its worth looking for a local office furniture clearance warehouse, most deal in new and used. I visited one local to me and they had about 300 office chairs in stock, ranging from brand new, to looking like new (massively discounted from new price), to spare parts.

Haha I did the Ikea run on Sunday. Nearly killed my GF and buried here in one of the showrooms but we made it back!

I do love my Markus, as you said it's not 'a lot' of chair for the money but its simple, effective, well built and most of all comfortable

Unfortunately I just got redeployed in the UK for a few days to a holiday inn. My man cave with an adjustable work surface/desk and Marcus is beyond my reach! Having to satisfy myself with shopping for components online.

Got this one in blue, very nice. Well worth the money considering how much time I spent sitting here.
