Holiday to Turkey April 2017 (Quite a few pictures)

So we decided to book up to Turkey late August last year, reasoning from my wife is that it was cheap. She didn't actually know about the coup in July and all the attacks across the country from terrorism. I won't lie I was nervous and dreading going myself but pleased I did as we had a great time there even though I spent 2 days in a Turkish private hospital for 2 days (bad sickness and the runs and couldn't even drink water, when doctor checked me out due to the immense stomach pain he admitted me to the hospital)

Weather the first week was absolutely amazing, second week though it was overcast and quite miserable, thankfully plenty to do there and Marmaris was a half hour walk off to the left on the sea front and Icmeler just over 10 minutes. Turkey is now our go to holiday destination, loads of police around as well as private security and cameras everywhere, felt safer there than a night out at Newcastle!

So I got a few pictures and a video of the hotel, it is the Sentido Orca Lotus Beach

First up a video of the hotel from the water taxi

OK I'm going to be that guy...

How do you reconcile the regime from the people?

    In todays news: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-39716631

Do you want to support that kind of regime? I sure as hell don't want to feel as if I've blood on my hands for the sake a of a cheaper holiday.

    that's impossible to argue

    Feral wanted a holiday

he took it where he could afford

the locals benefited from his cash.

    he came home safe

We went to Marmaris kind of!!

There is a road between Marmaris and Icmeler (South East Mediterranean side, Rhodes is nearby), that view spans the entire area, the hotel we were in was situated a little closer to the Icmeler side.

We did spend a fair bit of time at the beach, it was pretty quiet also as they are starting the main season late this year with all the problems there last year.

Have to say though, made some great Turkish friends there and loved the place so much we are going back June next year

Looks fantastic, I'm actually tempted! Some great prices going although there is the outside threat of political upheaval and terrorism, but you could be in just as much danger visiting London!

Re: Holiday to Turkey April 2017 (Quite a few pictures)

To be honest a lot of it is common sense, when you are on holiday you know to avoid large crowds and gatherings.

I honestly wasn't going to go but my wife says terrorism is happening everywhere so you can't let it rule your life and stop you from travelling.

There was always Police around and there was also security outside the hotel at all times, not forgetting there are cameras everywhere there now, I really felt safe there.

Istanbul and Ankara are places that have been attacked a few times now so we decided against a visit to Istanbul but Marmaris and Icmeler are small coastal towns and I can honestly say they are great places with lovely people.

If I didn't feel safe we wouldn't be going back next year!
