We found this in our loft. Does anyone have any idea what it is?

We wondered about the wine thing, but it doesn't seem right that the lid at the top (right hand side) cuts under the lid on the left, so would chop into the bottle if used that way. There is also no recess under the top piece. The bottom (not photographed) has wooden dome feet, but you can see clasp marks and nail points in the pics which suggest it might have been part of something larger. I'll go and see if will take wine bottles. As luck would have it we have a few of those. I might even open one.

Yes, it looks a lot like a Port & Stilton presentation box. I used to work for a small firm with some rather posh owners - they often gifted each other items like that at Christmas.

Wonder if it was Whiskey bottle at the bottom, glass above and either a sunken ice box in the big whole, or an ashtray? Fits with the top bit possibly closing it off?
