Spontaneous Pop Up Display

This is a usable idea I think.
A flat screen won't carry or balance well.
This is a projector in an umbrella style pop up that stands like an old CRT, but folds up
Clever idea!

Just so everyone is clear we didn't post this to promote the kick starter in question
I think it's quite a cool thing but it's not our intention to actively promote an individual kick starter
If I'm wrong to post this stuff just say.
Shame it's only 1280x720. It's a great idea though - I want one but don't think I'd actually use it...
Given that it's coming from staff, it's probably good to add that clarification, but I don't see a problem with posting about an interesting-looking new idea. We've seen several similar (as in novel ideas, not as in screens) before and I think most people understand the point, and risks, of backing kickstarter projects.
But how it gets to market (if it ever does) aside, it's an interesting idea.

I don't get the whole kickstarter thing. Are you buying a piece of the company or not?
I notice they didn't show in any real detail the process of folding it back up to put it in its pouch, that looks like it could be troublesome and annoying. Does it also have a power cable? Does it recharge using removable batteries?
So you are actually investing, i.e. getting a stake in the product, or just getting free stuff if it gets its target funding?
It's certainly the right concept, and looks to be well executed. What will matter to a product like this is the long term build quality and battery life.
For example first thing that popped into my head was for our reps to replace their current projectors and monitors, which are often hard to see or where our clients may lack a sensible sized, clear wall and often break due to typical rough treatment.

You might get the actual product if you pay enough and the product is released,or if you donate a tiny amount probably a thanks or something. Its basically very similar to early access games.
You don't own any part of the company. Basically like with early access games, there is no guarantee you will ever get the product they have promised. If you get "something" its a victory in its own right.
Its why people moaning when the kickstarter has failed or the early access game has failed and when they have not received any product,or a broken unsupported mess of one, really should have realised what they are getting themselves into.
You kickstart or use early access if you are desperate to see something come to market, but are willing to throw that money away if the product never pans out.
For the company it is essentially a free loan, with no interest with a IOU for if the product is released.
No doubt there are products which have been kickstarted or left early access perfectly fine too,but its always a risk with these ways of funding products!!
Anyhow, having checked, it's not on a Kickstarter, it's about to be released after a Kickstarter last November.

Currently $399.00 but due to be around $499.00 to $549.00
At that price, not a massive help to the home market, but definitely worthwhile for our office to take a look
