    How tea.......should be

Yesterday, I was sat with the OCUK team, when I was offered a brew.

A chap from OCUK who doesn't drink tea himself, with a short instruction from me on how I like it, made me the perfect brew.

    I mean.. perfect. Utterly lovely.

Check this bad boy brew out

I aligned the bubbles with the refelction for the ultimate smiley

Thanks bud. It was a lovely lovely brew.

I've seen better looking tea on the terraces, served in a foam cup.

    Re: How tea.......should be

Tea is a highly personal preference, take it from someone who lives with a tea blogged with over 600 types and brands of tea.

Personally, I'm a fan of Assam, served without milk, because my love of chilli and peaty whiskies has killed any sembalance of taste buds, whereas she prefers Dragon Eye Ooolong tea, which is a lot softer, and slightly fruity

Perfect cup of tea? I don't remember. As you get older, your memory starts to go.

If you'd asked about coffee, well, I've had some recently. Last time I had tea, our Prime Minister was female .... and wasn't called Theresa.

Non blended tea straight from the plantation is a very different beast from the blended tea you get here, but the issue is water can be very hard here which is not helpful.

Which is .... scary, Jim () .... but is also a good argument for buying coffee beans, and grinding your own. It's one reason I bought a fancy blender ... the dry goods container is designed to allow you to easily grind your own beans to whatever degree of coarseness or fineness needed for the type of drink, e.g. perc., caffetiere, expresso machine, etc, you want.

And, unlike factory coffee products, or tea, where you can't really be sure what's getting slipped in without your knowledge, you can at least make a cuppa having, if you choose, inspected every bean yourself.

Next step ... roasting my own. Maybe next year.

I'm actually a coffee drinker by preference, but the one thing I've found is that if you try enough types of tea, you can find ones which are enjoyable and as complex as a good cup of coffee.

Naw. See, the teabag goes in the water - you don't just wave it in front of it in the hope of imparting some semblance of colour and flavour.

I have have had tea which has been straight from a plantation - it was really nice. Plus you could see it being dried and sorted on site, and choose what type you want(size of the tea itself has an effect). Also the height at which tea is grown affects it's flavour.

It also tasted very different from the standard stuff you get here which is made for hard water and is mostly cheaper tea with a small amount of more expensive teas - it's kind of like comparing cheaper blended whisky to a single malt.
