Between the two, Aldi every time.
I assume it depends on local environment, but our local Co-Op is a horrid and vile place...
While you do get some self-righteous budget-master types who choose to shop at Aldi (my wife included), with those who don't know what they're doing preferring Lidl, both are still superior to whatever bargain-basement boneheads go to Co-Op and think they're getting a good deal buying the reduced stuff, which they keep on the reduced shelf instead of throwing in the bin, because 'only' three people have trodden on it so far... I guess it's OK because only one of them left a bootprint?
Aside from the reduced shelf, everything in Co-Op seems more expensive, with the Fair Trade stuff being the worst.

Co-op is the nearest to my house and also conveniently does the electric for my house so I'll have to go with them. Alsi also aren't in my town so they can feck off as it leaves me with the choice of co-op, Tesco or Sainsbury. co-op is my go to if I can't be arsed going into town as it's only a few mins walk away. Sainsbury is for when I have time to go shopping or I already happen to be in town at the time. Tesco is for when external substances are effecting my state of mind at 2AM.

If something is/was broke it was probably me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
All the Co-ops which I have visited seem to do decent quality products although YMMV. TBF,most of these companies probably use the same suppliers,so there is not much in them for a lot of products.
Edit!!
As noted above proximity is very important. I remember at the last place I lived the Aldi was the closest to my place,so I tended to shop there more often for larger shops. However,I used to walk past a Tesco and Sainsbury on the way to work so used to shop there more often for the more frequent(but smaller) shopping.
In the current place I live in we have a few Tescos,an Asda,a Lidl,an Aldi,an Iceland,a Farmhouse and a Morrisons.
The Aldi and Morrisons are not in the town centre so I don't bother visiting them that much.

I'm not sure you can compare the two - Co-Op being primarily a local 'top-up' store equivalent to Tesco Express and Aldi being more usually an out-of-town rival to a normal Tesco, with a car park etc.
FWIW, I can walk to a Co-Op and the nearest Aldi is a serious drive, so there's no competition. I haven't actually been in an Aldi for years as a result - just not worth the trip. There's a Lidl a bit closer, but you can't park there without having an enormous scoop on the front of your car so that's no better.

This depends on where you live - the Co-op in my town is at least as big as the Aldi, and the one I used to live near in Birmingham was one of the biggest supermarkets within miles. There's been a recent move by Co-op to close a lot of the larger stores and concentrate on the smaller ones, but it's by no means universa,l, and there are plenty of larger co-ops around still.
Anyway, we have both supermarkets, both of a similar size, and both a similar distance from home, there's absolutely no comparison - it's Aldi at least 9 times out of 10 for us. The product ranges are very similar, the quality is very similar, but the Aldi is significantly cheaper across the whole store.
Co-Op is a brand based on British farming values of Co Operation and Aldi are trying v hard to sel UK product too. V hard.
I like Co Op vino and beer, and bread. It is often local the beer in particular IS from my local brewery :-)
But I'm getting a bit miffed about different Co Operatives not sharing their deals. I've got a Mid Counties co op card which I got in my home town.. got a deal through the post... went to a diff co op in the same town, filled the basket... and at the till found out the store wasn't part of that co operative!
Bit miffed.
Aldi take my weekly shop, (when Ocado isn't bringing stuff once per month)

But the only ones nearby are M&S, Iceland and Sainsburys, so Iceland take the bulk of my custom and Sainsburys maybe 20%.
Once a year for Christmas we may venture as a family to Aldi for a big shop. I've even been known to pay for it!

Never had a chance to try anything other than a Tesco's, Sainsbury's or Waitrose
Of the three, Waitrose has excellent customer service but boy do you pay for it, Sainsbury's always seemed a bit rundown but liked a lot of their own brand microwave meals and Tesco is the norm
Co-Op I used as a corner shop only, and nearest Aldi requires a 30 minute drive so bugger that for a weekly shop

Co-op is not a brand. Or rather, not just a brand. It's a series of different companies, all operating under the shared umbrella of the co-operative movement. But it's important to remember there isn't "the" co-op, but a whole series of them. That said, there has been a LOT of consolidation among different co-ops in recent years, so it's nowhere near as fragmented as it used to be.
Actually, even calling them companies is a bit misleading, because they're really .... ummm ..... co-operatives.

wish they'd "Co Op"erate a bit more in my town.
It's not like the shops are even 5 miles apart!
