Tips for travelling around Thailand/Camobdia
Hello all,
I appreciate I may be leaving this a little late but I'm off to Thailand(and likely venturing over to Cambodia and/or Vietnam) next Friday for ~4 weeks and could probably do with a few pointers.
I've got the absolute essentials covered (jabs, money, water bottle and DEET spray) I believe. What suggestions is there on SIM cards, converters and is there any specific insurance I should/could look at?
And most importantly, activities/destinations :p

Make sure you respect any local religious sensitivities when it comes to monuments and Temples, etc.

You can get this really good roll on DEET from boots in Thailand. It's brilliant stuff, green colour in a bottle with a white cap. It's way better than the spray, as the spray stuff just sweats off.
SIM cards are unique to each country. However I swear my phone has enough wifi hotspots that I could traverse the places without ever being outside of WiFi.
Get at least one small waterproof dry bag. Sure it's the dry season in the areas near the gulf, dosen't mean places wont flood further north.
Check out Pai in Thailand, I assume you are already going to Chiang Mai, it's a good place for western new year if you are out during that.
4 Weeks is not nearly enough time to see these places properly, I'd wouldn't choose quantity over quality, limit yourself to fewer places. If you do go to Vietnam, get a visa invitation letter as it will save you money & you might even be in country at the same time as me! If you decide to go to Hoi An, drop me a PM as I've some friends who live there.
