As an Evangelical Christian who lived in the USA I take issue with this. The concept of war as coming to Israel/Jerusalem is definitely a common belief doing many, but not all Evangelicals (and some other branches of the Christian family) but actively promoting our desiring war is not common. I know literally hundreds of Evangelicals spread across multiple churches and denominations, maybe even over a thousand known over the years, and this wouldn't be true for any of them.

There will be some who look to this as a possible indication of "end times events" drawing near and those who do promote and support the prosperity of Israel, but I know no one who would desire war or see it as a good thing.

I'm sure you can find some examples of what you describe but it is in no way true of the majority, nor even, I would argue, true of what it is to be an Evangelical by definition. But that's a different question.

TLDR - evangelicals (a much maligned and confused term) do not promote our desire war anywhere.

It's a surprise move but I think it's part of an underlying current whereby the US is actually passively seeking to decrease it's influence worldwide. If they continue doing silly things people will look elsewhere for their world powers and decision makers.
