Either OCR errors in scanning the manuscript, or typos from people paid to type them up for Kindle?

But shouldn't Kindle books have the same proof-reading and editing as proper books? It grinds my gears...

I guess not.

I first got the Kindle app just because a friend wrote a book and, upon hearing that it was out, was amazed to actually be reading it within 1 minute straight after that phonecall.
Now, she wrote it on PC and printed the manuscript, but there are errors in the Kindle version that aren't present in the printed (and signed) copy.

I therefore assume there's a different process in getting it to eBook than printing it...
