    How Hard!

Well my brothers just got a job outside of morecambe, picking cockles. Wage is decent, anything upto £120 a day, me wanting to earn money i asked him to take me with him. The idea is, you work in two's, one to use a "big board attatched to metal" to tap the floor and bring the cockles to the surface, and another to rake them up. Well it was an early start, 4.40am i had to wake up, after having a good ol' 40 minutes sleep. Ready for 5 and make the trip to morecambe, 4 people/equipment/wood in a 205 for an hour journey. Got their and had to ride in the back of a trailer though water/over rocks/over bumps, it was not nice, salt water splashing up and sand. We got to work about 6.50am kept on working till 2.30pm. And i walked out with a measly £25 for 7 hours really hard graft. Im feeling the effects and VERY sore at this minute in time. And theres my with a big head thinking it would be easy.

Thought i would share my intresting day with you Never again!

Well, it's like fishing. You have to have a permit now, think it's only registered to GB people only! If you dont have a permit, your asked to tip all of your "findings" and leave the beach, which is 6 miles out from the coast!

Pretty crazy though, there was some guy who was driving an ex army tank style vehicle, it hovers on water. And cost the guy £30,000, he employs 40 polish people, probably illegal? There's alot of money in cockle picking. Anything upto £500 (minimum) to £2000+.
