    Yellow Dogs - awareness time

    Lo people

I didn't know that people didn't know about this... but I discussed it with someone and they didn't know it was a "thing"

but it is, and it's pretty effective.

    https://www.yellowdoguk.co.uk/

If a dog is wearing a Yellow marker, it might just be a bit... nervous... nervy.. a tad jumpy

the yellow marker will be a ribbon on the lead, or a yellow collar... but either way, give it some space and also give it's owners a bit of space as the dog might be possessive of them

Just thought it was worth mentioning

in all honesty you should always ask a dog owner if it's ok to stroke their dog anyway... it's a good tactic for keeping all the body parts you were born with attached without need of stitches.. but Yellow Dog helps a lot

    Here endeth the lesson

Re: Yellow Dogs - awareness time

Yeah there are a few different ones :

    Yellow : Nervous
    Green : Friendly
Orange : Possible aggression to other dogs
    White : Deaf
    Dark Blue : Service Dog

Those are the ones I remember, if you head into your local vet or petstore you can get collars, leash & harnesses in those colours with bold writing on them for the category. Our Husky is funny with other dogs (small terrier types) and can get a bit rowdy so when I walk him I have the orange set

You should, yes... but people rarely do.
More often, they come bounding up like a caffeinated Beagle, going "OOH, lookatdacuwteickledoggieeeeezzzzzzzz!!!!"... and then wonder why they're missing body parts.

Hint: The owner himself will be the one ripping your arms off, because I'm damned if my dogs are going to be executed for something stupid you've done!!

My pups (all three being Rescues) wear utility coats with Velcroâ„¢ patches on. Two have green FRIENDLY patches on their sides, while the nervous one has big red DO NOT PET ones... not that she's ever done more than hide behind me and bark at the strangers, but still...

I find that a Security badge on the dog's harness warns other owners to the imminent danger that Shamrock poses. He will, quite literally, lick you to death.
