So...we've moved the majority of our servers into a rack, and jolly nice they look too. Naturally, I've obtained us a UPS for said rack (as you do...), an APC SmartUPS 3000VA XL extended run rack mount. Notice those last two words. "Rack mount". Does anyone know where I can get either a forklift or a good chiropractor...? I'm getting a hernia just LOOKING at the flipping thing...

So speaks he who has never lifted a big ole rack mount UPS... They are HEAVY... You know how the first time you pick up a car battery you think - "Blimey, that's heavier than it looks"...? Well with a big rack mount UPS the first time you try and pick it up it doesn't move because you weren't prepared to apply anything like the required amount of force to move it... 56.36 kg according to www.apc.com...

56.36kg is basically 9 stone. Lifting a 19" wide 9 stone object off the ground on your own is not easy Big Richard- although feel free to live up to your moniker by proving otherwise.

I found a 29" sony telly in a skip a few months ago. I know from the box of my other Sony 29" telly that it weighs roughly 45-50KG. After carrying it the 200 yards to my flat my forearms were so pumped I could hardly manipulate my keys to open the front door.
