    Focus on camera

Bah, been playing around with my camera for ages and i'm trying to do upclose shots. Now if i set it to video mode it focuses really really well on close-up but as soon as i change back to picture mode it goes out of focus Anyone have any idea on how to get really close whilst keeping focus? I've set the AF to center focus and selected the correct lighting conditions and i still don't know why it isn't working It focuses fine under video mode! Why!

    Help would be much appreciated

Well there's an icon on the menu with an "M" on it which i'm guessing is macro mode, but, it won't let me access it, grrr! I figure it must enable this automatically when i go into video mode but for some reason i can't access it. I've tried multiple different options, still can't get to it

    It's a Sony Cybershot DSC-L1, there's multi-AF and center-AF, i always put it on center.

    EDIT: tech specs here

EDIT EDIT, here's a close up pic

    wassup with that?

Macros on mine (kodak) and my bf's (canon) cameras have an icon of a flower. I also find that (on both cameras) if you half press the button it'll find the focus - if there is indeed a point of focus. We were playing about with close up pics yesterday. Wanted to take a pic of my bf's eye but his camera couldnt get as close as i would have liked... and you have to be about 50cm away from the object before it'll focus.

Nah mine doesn't have a macro mode, just weird that it can focus much much better in video mode than it can in picture mode :S

It's a point and shoot camera - the focal length and aperture size, f-stops etc will all be pre-set - with no manually adjustment. Not really anythng you can do about it (apart from buying a prosumer camera).
