    It's a damn moth!

I despair when I read about stuff like this. Some pastor in the US took a photo of his big American truck thing in the dark. Now he and his family are convinced they've discovered proof of the existence of angels, when all they've done is confirm the existence of moths (which, to be fair, had already been confirmed a very long time ago). It just amazes me how gullible and impressionable some folk can be!

looks more like the ghost of dumbo flying back to reap vengeance on Tim Burton before he finishes the Dumbo remake.

Lol, it's more likely to be either of those two than an angel

    Re: It's a damn moth!

To be fair though. There is science to support it....

"We checked the temp at 12.49 am for this location.

“46 [degrees Fahrenheit] was predicted in town, 39 degrees at the Thorman's perhaps lower, but the average for his home is a 7 degrees difference in temperature.

“The photograph was taken early morning on the ninth at 12.49... and it's believed the ground was still cold.

“And although moths have been seen in temps of 35 [degrees Fahrenheit] according to research, not a mosquito or moth has been seen yet to-date in their neck of the woods or ours, not sayin' there ain't any; just that we haven't seen any yet in these parts… and tonight, we have another round of frost."
I think, on balance of probability, given the temperature....... it's still probably a moth.

    Re: It's a damn moth!

Yeah I saw that too. Unusual as it may be for moths to be active in those conditions, it's still a lot less unusual than a manifestation of an imaginary heavenly being!

    Re: It's a damn moth!

oh ffs, this depresses me so much. Is his faith really so vulnerable he has to clutch at straws to try and justify it? Who's he trying to convince with that? Sounds to me like someone with doubts desperately trying to reassure himself, all the while undermining his own credibility to onlookers. Is there more to life than meets the eye? Sure. Do I believe in God? Absolutely. Is that an angel or a moth. Moth. Blatantly a moth. Moth moth moth moth moth.

If he flicked open his bible he'd remember that in the few times angels are referred to as visiting people on earth (as opposed to the apocalyptic visions in the book of Revelation) they are consistently described as "like a man", "in the appearance of a man" etc "shining", "dressed in white" but "like a man". They had definite features, since people "fell at their feet". The encounters were always purposeful, and for unique and specific reasons, and the resultant message very very clear. The visited were in no doubt as to what had happened. Nowhere does it describe such encounters as "something happened we didn't know about until later" "oh, and it looked like a mustard smudge in a baby's nappy." IT'S A MOTH.

or the ghost of a pilot of a gypsy moth who died in a burning wreck in that very field in 1920?

I'm an atheist, but I'm glad we both agree that whole story is absurd. Given that the guy's a pastor, and therefore a man of faith, why on earth does he feel the need to try and look for signs that simply aren't there. I guess it shows how fallible our human brains and eyes can be - we see what we want to see.

You realise that makes it even worse, because he "a man of god" couldn't see it with his eyes, it was only captured by a soulless machine.
So wouldn't that mean he has less faith than a digital camera?
