my trip home from wakefielf (to glasgow) yesterday morning...

    Get up at 5.50am
    leave house at 6.30am
train from wakey was 10 mins late due to "the weather" eventhough it had only snowed for about 5 mins previous to that announcement.
Get to leeds eventually at 7.20 and walk up to the merion centre (god knows why!) for brekky with the bf on his way to work.
Walk back to train station to get train to york.
Train to york was 10 mins late.
Just leave leeds and see REALLY deep snow out of window.
Train to york stopped 5 mins outside york for half an hour!
Fiona panicked thinking she'd missed her connecting train.
Get to york at 9am... thinking missed train...
Find out train is due in on the same platform so stand about waiting
train just got off isnt moving.
    Keep checking notice board
    plantform alteration.
Train to glasgow is now 10 mins late
train sits in york for a further 5 mins.
    Now 15 mins late
stop outside Northallerton for 5 mins due to following a local service that stops at EVERY SINGLE STATION!
Stop outside darlington for another 10 mins (now half an hour late!) due to a failed train on one of the platforms and only being able to use one platfrom for both directions!

Btw, there's still deep snow all around...

Stop outside Newcastle for 5 mins due to busy station...
Stop outside Edinburgh for 5 mins - reason unknown
sit in edinbugh for 5 mins - LOOSING MORE TIME HERE PEOPLE!
Fall asleep just outside edinburgh, get into glasgow FORTY FIVE minutes late ( 1.30pm). Mainly due to the snow.

Luckily i managed to get a GNER malard service with WIFI so i could email my lab leader to tell him i'd be late!

Snow is all very well, but why WHY does EVERYTHING have to come to a standstill because of it?!?! u think iceland/scandanavia/canada/alaska do the same????

    It's ludicrus!

it makes me laugh that in this country, it seems that the first sign of snow, and things grind to a halt.

Well I live outside Edinburgh and no gritters have been to any of my roads and the first part of the Edinburgh bypass.
I ended up swapping the tail for my nose of the car 3 times after correcting a skid on the bypass, But it was just like driving a rally car on Sega Rally
But then again I do drive a Subaru Impreza WRX
Edinburgh is not any better, gritters have hardly hit any roads at all. We had about 4 inchs of snow where I live and the snow isn't letting up at all.

The worse of it is that they say the worst is still to come

So im on a half day as I dont trust the weather to keep the way home open

I pretty much drifted out into the road Luckily the roads weren't quite that bad. Hehe

I don't see why so many people like snow. It's cold. It's wet, and it's cold. I just had to cycle home at gone midnight in a near blizzard. It's not official - I HATE snow!
