Man bites dog

LONDON (Reuters) - A blind man has been arrested in Scotland after witnesses reported he sank his teeth into his guide dog and kicked her across the road, police have said.

The incident allegedly occurred outside a busy shopping centre in Edinburgh.

David Todd, 34, is expected to face charges of cruelty to animals and breach of the peace.

A police spokeswoman said on Thursday the eight-year-old dog had been handed over to a charity dedicated to guide dogs.

"When we took her into custody. She had no apparent injuries," she added.

Todd is due to appear in court at a later date.

I saw a headline yesterday in the Warrington Guardian that said "Lottery Winner dies of Heart Attack". Sounds terrible at first glance. Imagine them hearing the good news and it all being too much and they keel over. Actually it turns out it was months after they won and the win was not a jackpot win but a much more modest sum. The dog story should surely have knocked this one off the front page.
