I do think people are overthinking things slightly - I lived in a hot country for a few years. Just drink your normal tea, water, etc when you feel thirsty but don't overdo it too, have a shower in the afternoon/evening to cool down a bit after a long day and you will be fine. Invest in a fan if you don't have one. The same with food, unless your entire diet is just bacon and eggs and a bottle of salt, for the most part stick to what you feel you can eat and move on from there - there is no real need to have specialised diets. Put sun screen on if you have sensitive skin, have a cap,hat or something like that to shade yourself, and stick to the shade where you can,but also engage some commonsense too if you need to walk or work in the sun.

I don't thnk we're over thinking this - diet is clearly important to me as I mentioned it, hence why I said about it. I'm glad you're not feeling it as much, for your sake.

It's 34C in the shade, today. The office is ferociously hot. Fans are helping and I brought two from home into the office to help. My mate in Scotland has a 23C day, and we're having a 34C day. It's a very different day for us.

If I was working outside today, it would be something I'd plan for and think hard about. I'm not drinking hot drinks at all. In winter, when I'm out shooting, in the snow, I like a hot mug, but in the office in these temps, just BOILING the kettle warms the whole office up, before any tea is made ;-)

Zak33 we should totally like quit and move somewhere nice in northern Europe or whatever with funky northern lights and thing.

You should look into legislation regarding office temperature norms. I would hope we're going to get someone in a fair heaps of trouble over what happening to you

Sadly there's no law on maximum office temperatures - https://www.gov.uk/workplace-temperatures - so nobody is going to get in trouble.

Zak's also far from alone; Air conditioning just isn't that common in the UK as it's not usually this hot. It's 30.1 in the office for me and not yet midday, this afternoon is going to be horrible! I've got a little USB desk fan and I'm basically cuddling it, and I've already drunk more this morning than I do during an entire normal workday.

Well I did say stick to what you feel you can eat,and that includes quantities - I quite happily will skip meals if need be during hot weather.

Plus of course I feel the heat, and I sweat like there is no tommorrow when its hot,and yet people are seriously thinking of oral rehydration mixtures? Water, juice, soft drink, etc and your meals will give you enough salt and sugar anyway, since the diets we have in Europe are quite rich.

Also,I know this sounds utterly bonkers, but I found tea sometimes more refreshing in hot weather than some cool drinks - its blooming weird, but there is some logic behind it:

    https://www.smithsonianmag.com/scien...-down-1338875/

But goodness grief last weekend though - spent 12 hours standing up in a field photographing an event,I couldn't wear a cap since it caused issues, then slept in a hot tent for all of 4 hours, then was roped into clearing up for the said event(which I didn't really feel that enthused about). I am definitely not a fit person,so having to move hay bails, pallets, etc was not my idea of fun on a sunday morning in a field(and I am sure my mates knew since I was moaning! ). Then we decided to go to the Whitsable Oyster festival....and sit on the beech with all the superhot pebbles, and I hadn't brought my trunks(or a beech towel) which was a severe mistake on my part.

    So yes,make sure you plan!!

Server rooms can often be a bit too chilly, esp if your shorts and t-shirt

Here's something my other half has been doing, put a damp towel in the freezer, not too wet don't want a block of ice, but enough that she has to unbend it rather than unfold it.
She then wraps it around her shoulders/neck and I'm not sure which melts first her or the towel

That used to be a fairly common thing, I remember having to turn off the wifi to prevent my router overheating in summer
