The Party I was not invited too.

Resently I received a rejection (after 8 interviews) via email for a job with a well known search engine. Anyway it was rather a form email, and it said to a friend they made it feel like "the party I was not invited to" so he sent this my way. I rather liked it so I thought I would share. The whole site is very strange, you never quite sure if its all made up or is the blog of a very deluded person.

8 interviews? Sounds like Google. I had 17 (and the requested another 4) before I told them to flip off. It was over about 5 sessions, but still....

Really get over yourselves! Also don't use form letters where people can google to see if its a standard one being sent out it devalues the whole thing. However they did fly me to Ireland and put me up in a 4 star hotel for the night, so I am not complaining.

I once sat in a 3 hour interview for a company doing R&D in IT... They wouldn't tell me what they were doing or the technologies they were using and kept me sitting there for 3 hours asking strange questions. I came to the conclusion that they'd already selected someone internally and were just going through the required motions to meet agreed employment law / practice. Unless it was a seriously senior role I'd be walking away after more than 3 interviews. Normally I get one 'techie' interview with the staff you'll be working with, one HR interview to determine if you're a nutter / have any social skills at all and depending upon the company / role another interview with a 'higher up' to see how you fit in and to gauge your ambition.

Oh and I like the link - probably all made up but "our bedroom walls are touching so when we are sleeping our heads are only a few feet apart" made me chortle...
