aye, the vanilla stuff does go well. But Fresh British creamy custard straight out of the pan is the best.
You lot adulterate a really good Lemon Drizzle with .... with .... I can't even bring myself to say it ..... custard? I suppose you put "coke" into a good single Malt, too?
Custard, and I mean the proper stuff not that foul muck people mix up out of a packet and call custard, but the proper stuff, has it's place, especially on a jam or treacle pud or spotted dick, but to ruin a Holy Lemon Drizzle .... gah, barbarians.
Is there a Royal Society for the Protection of Lemon Drizzle Cake? I want to report an abuse.
TL : DR version :-
- Yay to LDC.
- No to custard on it.
- Yes, I have too much time on my hands
- I think I know what Zak had with his mid-morning brew.

Ah you need Devonshire clotted cream, not custard and none of that watery stuff they call cream in the supermarkets
Though back in the '50s my auntie (Devon farm) used to make some lovely custard. The milk used was dipped from the top of milk churn, before the churn disappeared off to the local factory. Very fresh and it was more cream than milk. Factory quality control on the milk less strict than these days, no doubt...
They would probably put a health risk on that custard now, it was so rich.

Why is it that if I want really good Lemon Drizzle Cake, my best bet is to buy it from the local garden center of all places?
But otherwise, you had me at "cake"
Lucky for you lot - I generally detest citrus-based foods, so it's aaaaaaaaaaaaall yours.
However, I may do some pretty painful things to anyone who gets between me and foods with hazelnuts.....

This subject.
Just this subject?
Aww, shucks .... I lubs you too, bruv.
As for being mental, I certainly hope so. I'm sure trying hard enough. I think it's a form of over-exposure to GBT (Governmental Brexit-related Tediumitis) .... I'm afraid someone's going to replace my lovely Imperial-standard Marbles with those horrible EU-mandated EuroMarbles.
And i bet you didn't think I coukd segue from Lemon Drizzle to ..... the B-word, did you?
Hang on, I think I hear sirens. I may not be posting for a while.
