    Best Internet security package?

Which is the best internet security package, I am reaching the end of the year with my norton antivirus and was thinking possibly upgrading or changing,

I have read many mixed reviews about norton IN security 2005 cf zone alarm or Tiny (never heard of tiny before).

    Any opinions?

    TJ, do the following:

Reinstall Windows fully, then just reinstall Norton. It gives you another year for free.

I used my 2002 edtion from xmas 2001 to the middle of last year!

i got norton systemworks 2005, you can choose what parts of it to use, i go for internet security and antivirus seems to work nicely, and like xcelsion mentioned, its a long long license if you reninstall!

The only reason I stopped using the 2002 edition, is because I bought a cheap OEM copy of 2005.

Works just the same as far as the license goes.

    1: Get a firewall router (£40 ish)
2: Run something like Shields Up to check you're all "stealthed up" http://www.grc.com/ (free)
3: Use the free virus checker from Trend every week http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ (free)
4: Don't open emails from people you don't know (free)
5: Give Mozilla a try (free)

Funny old thing, Internet Security....you are normally quite safe if you're sensible.

The best security package is actually - YOU The user.

The windows SP2 firewall is a great piece of kit and with the antispyware software as well it will keep your PC clean and free from bugs*1.

Zone alarm is another good piece of kit as is AVG from grisoft. I used to use grisoft myself for a while until I was supplied with a better solution.

As long as you educate the users if anyone else is going to be using the PC and teach them how to keep it clean then you should be fine

*1) Providing that the users stays away from all those dodgy sites that we all know about that have pop-up/pop-under frames galore, asking you do you want to set your homepage as an adult entertainment site with the "free access" dialers. Usually these are on domains that are very similar to normal domains but spelt a little incorrect... grr crafty or what?

    /\ ya see,,,,,he knows.

I like Hardware Firewalls though...I had Zonealarm on my PC whiel i was on NTL and it was BATTERED al day long....my frame rates used to drop because of it!!!!

Hardware Firewalls are good value and act as a router for lots of PCs for when mates pop round for 24 hours of gaming

I like this one http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=52754 at £53 inc VAT . Now a few people have had them pack up, me included, but I had superb responsse from their Indian call centre (....no..I really did....was well pleased) and they swapped it for me for free, and paid for me to postit back

Either way.....damn good value AND yuc can just whack other PC's into it
