Probably won't have finished writing shopping lists.
"With Mrs May not yet out the door – and despite earning more than £830,000 in the year since quitting as foreign secretary – the soon-to-be PM allegedly told civil servants to spend thousands on furniture for his new home as he ‘didn’t have any stuff’. Government sources would not comment on the exact amount spent on the new furniture but one said the bill was ‘quite toppy’."

Bet it leaves one & a half grand whipround to buy Theresa some stereotypical ladies' giftware in the dust. (Wonder to which social event you would fancy sporting your failed-to-deliver-brexit handbag & beads? Stick 'em on ebay, Treese.)

Of course they should be dismayed, it has his bezzie mate's Steve Bannon's grubby little fingers all over it.

So Trump, now Boris and Bannon is tucked away with his group 'The Movement to Nurture European populists' based out of Brussels (of course) plotting the next scalp.

Dismayed is more extreme an emotion than delighted?

As you can see, those who find BoJo agreeable, are more likely to choose the middle ground of 'Pleased' than the extreme of 'Delighted'. Meanwhile those who dislike the outcome this week, quickly leap to the extreme of 'Dismayed' rather than just 'Disappointed'. The Left are very quick to rush to an extreme response, and this simple poll is a perfect reflection of that.

That doesn't explain the difference between Johnson and May though. Surely the left response should be the same if it was intrinsic rather than anything to do with Johnson?

It's similar to Trump derangement syndrome. BoJo inspires rage, to a degree far disproportionate to anything he's actually done.

I wouldn't say so. I believe he inspires a sense of incredulity rather than rage.

In the last GE the kippers got 1.8% of the vote, compared to 3% for the northern BNP and 7.4% for the orange liars. The kipper vote was about the same as the greenpeace vote, who managed to translate their 1.6% into one seat.

The UK population has also given a pretty firm vote against changing first-past-the-post very recently (2/3rds to 1/3rd)

Getting rid of bendy buses was a good thing IMO. Struggling after that.

    ....
You're right, of course. I was forgetting (wishful thinking, maybe) Theresa May's opportunistic and hopelessly bodged 2017 fiasco.

I was actually thinking of a 'normal', mandated GE, that being 2015, when my figures are right.

I would add that by TM's cockup GE, she was spouting all the right things about Brexit, such as the Lancaster House speech, that she then promptly unilaterally abandoned. At the same time, of course, Farage had quit UKIP and it had hadca succession of leaders, in-fighting and wrlcomed the likes of Tommy Robinson. Even a firm believer in Brexitclike me wpuld have had trouble justifying goting for that .... and I didn't.

I would suggest the recent EU elections and the Brexit party success is a fairer indication, of failing that, the 2015 election results, not May's disaster, which was before she made clear that while talking the Brexit talk, she wasn't walking the Brexit walk she pretended to.

And having clarified my earlier mis-speaking, I'm bowing out again because I still have no interest in discussing Brexit any further.

This is often mentioned but all their 'success' was to take 24 UKIP seats +5 more. The Greens were +4 up and the LibDems were up +15 (these two 'remain' parties alone taking a larger % of the vote than Farage et al).

Labour did awful, Tories worse and the biggest losers were UKIP with -24.

    Optics, it's all about optics.
