    Adult Orthodontics?

Anyone here had Orthodontic treatment as an Adult?

    (Braces and such?)

If so, how much did it cost? (if you don't mind disclosing)

I'm just trying to get an idea of how much it'll be.

    thanks all

I've got a major overbite that they tried to correct when i was younger, the next step is surgery, so I think i can live with it...

I just think my two front teeth on the upper jaw could be straightened a bit to make by bite a bit more straight. (cosmetic, so would have to be private)

Private orthodontics cost in the region of £3000 for 'train tracks'. A friend of mine had them a few years ago privately (as a kid) so it may even be more That was for a year mind.

I had a chance to get braces before 16 or whenever it's free (or is it cheap?), but I hated the idea of metal in my mouth. I get the feeling I'm going to have to fork out later in life now.

Shop around - cost depends on what is required, i.e. time wise. Lots of orthodontists have dental plans where the cost is spread over the length of treatment (and sometimes beyond)

Most will give a consultation for a small amount (and can therefore advise on long term costs and results) but I would say look at approximately 1k per year. 2 years should correct most problems.

Yellow pages is a good place to start as are friends/family who have had similar treatment.
