Oh
I saw the thread title and so hoped it was not this precise news while knowing it really only would be. Like many here I knew Peter only through the forum and the very occasional PM so fond of him seems an odd thing to say somehow, but he was an outstandingly nice chap to me & from everything I ever picked up on, it was always a pleasure to cross paths with him on a thread, and having been here for over a decade he was a significant part of my HEXUS years.
We had a mutual liking of Molesworth (he once said that my avatar made him smile every time he saw it, which was reason alone to keep it) so the only really appropriate thing for me to say is; chiz. and; curses.
I will really miss him here and I know I will still expect to see him post. Sympathies to everyone connected with him. I never enquire into personal matters of members because the etiquette of it is beyond me and I don't want to pry where it's not wanted, maybe that's the wrong choice, but that doesn't mean I'm not thinking of them. Thanks for all the 'terrible' (brilliant) puns peterb, privilege to have 'met' you - sad day.

My condolences to his family and friends.
I enjoyed his contributions and balance on the forum.

I'm so sad to hear this. He was always the voice of reason when things got heated here. I have so much warm respect for him as he was capable of disagreeing respectfully and appreciating that those who do not agree are not necessarily wrong.

Sad news, thanks for informing us Zak33.
Never met peterb in person, but he was a friendly and familar name ever since I've been part of the community here.
RIP, peterb, you will be missed.

Thank you for all your posts and for the memories, because he helped us all, numerous times.
His family have been in contact and if anyone would like to attend his funeral, in the Southamptop area please send a message to a Mod or Admin
I guess the thing that hurts today is that.... most people would have contacted peterb for this information

Best wishes to his family, he always seemed like a gentleman whenever I've interacted with him. You will be remembered and missed Peter.

Very sad to hear this.
I spent a lot of time chatting to PeterB over the years I was an admin on here. He was one of the most fair people I've ever met - regularly offering the other side of the argument to try and ballance things out.
A true gentleman, and a great loss to the world. He did an incredible job here on the forum. While I've not posted for a long time, it's saddening to think he won't be around when visting

As always I'm very late to the party, having literally just realised Peter's gone. Needless to say I'm gutted.
Peter was one of the first persons I interacted with on this forum.
My heartfelt condolences to all he left behind ...and yes, that includes us, his second family here on Hexus.

Agreed. A few years ago he offered to help source an obscure replacement part for me at a store local to him, and posted it to me. Without meaning to come across as cliched or anything, I've often seen Hexus as having a more personal atmosphere about it, and Peter played a big part in that. It's always a real shame when active members move on to other forums for that reason - sure, we don't always agree on everything but things are very rarely personal, especially amongst those who stick around and see how things work here.

I didn't/don't know what to say, I'll leave it at rest in peace Peter, and my thoughts for his family and friends.
I've not had as close of a interaction with him as many of you, I think he wanted the best for this community, and the fact that he continued volunteering as an admin while he was battling an illness (something I would never have guessed from his posts) is amazing.

Never met the guy or spoke to him outside of this place, never a good time when someone who was clearly such a figure here leaves us..
RIP

It was saddening to learn about this. Peter was part of what kept this community great over the years, and I'm sure he had the same impact in his personal life too.
He'll be missed by many, but remembered fondly.
