A lesson learned from PeterB about dignity in adversity, so Peter, In Memorium, "Onwards and Upwards".
Zak33 (13-11-2019)
I was a close friend of Peter for the last 24 years and would like to thank Zak for attending the funeral on Monday, and taking a few minutes to chat to me before he left. It was a pleasure to meet someone from this part of his extended community.
Peter would have been pleasantly surprised by all the kind comments in this thread. I will make sure his family see it.

Thank you Mark
It was ....really quite special.... to come to say goodbye. He was one of a large internet team, who worked hard for us all, and who kept the place... organised
We all wish Peter's family and extensive network of friends, our deep condolences on your loss. And it was a VAST network of people who he interacted with!
There are many many "Wilder Minds" here.... and I like to think he fitted here, as well as the myriad other places he fitted in, because of that.
A top top bloke

Thanks for that, Mark.
It's good to know his friends and family know just how highly regarded he was in this corner of the net.

May I offer my belated condolences to peterb's family and friends. Very sad and shocking news, he was a steadying hand in many febrile debates on Hexus and was a great example of humility and civility. I will miss him.

yeah, sucks doesn't it. I was thinking just last week how the forum feels different without his input. I genuinely notice the difference in wider threads, as well as missing the occasional PM/thread joke etc directly. Not to mention comedy troll poking once he'd had enough of them. Gutted.

That aside, I've only just seen this thread, my sincerest condolences to all Peter's family and friends, as well as all here at Hexus, as has been mentioned, I'd actually been thinking I hadn't seen any of his posts in a while, especially over the holidays, I'd PM'd a few times over the years and he was always a gentleman - succinct in thought and always polite!

Farewell Peter, I did not know you outside this forum, but on it you always struck me as a solid force of "that's enough, all of you." who had the knack of shutting down things before they got too out of hand.
Yet also nice to converse with when not policing the place.
Damn but this is a blow to come back too.

Welcome back POB. Wondered what had happened to you!
It's been a while since I last visited, this is really sad. I don't think I said thanks for help with networking advice he gave me, thank you for your help!
I've only just come across this; I remember always reading Peter's posts fondly.
Consistently a level head, with remarkably sound advice, on a vast array of topics.
Firm, but oh so very fair.
Rest in peace, Peter
I can’t believe it’s been more than 2 years already.
This news unsettled me quite unexpectedly, and I still think about Peter regularly.
I hope his family are well

I try not to think about it. I still have a PM from Peter in my inbox that I won't delete.
