Can I be the first to say...

    What a seriously hard *******!

Private Johnson Beharry has been awarded the Victoria Cross. The full citation reads as follows:

Private Beharry carried out two individual acts of great heroism by which he saved the lives of his comrades.

Both were in direct face of the enemy, under intense fire, at great personal risk to himself (one leading to him sustaining very serious injuries).

His valour is worthy of the highest recognition....
The whole citation reads like a rolling disaster, and Pvt Beharry appears to have endured a nightmare.

What strikes me (other than the fact that the guy is clearly quite hard) is the fact that, well, this sounds like a full on warzone. And this happened in 2004. Not quite the environment we are led to believe the UK forces have been securing in Iraq, dont you think?

Oh, agreed, it doesn't SOUND like the "major phase of the conflict is over". Actually, though, I just wanted to draw attention to the conduct of an extraordinarily brave man, regardless of the rights or wrongs of the war or its conduct.

That story reads like a blockbuster film script...to live through such terror, and to be able to even act for yourself, let alone for your comrades is nowt short of incredible.

And I agree...it sounds NOTHING like we are led to believe on the telly.

Two were awarded during the Falklands conflict, posthumously. Lt. Colonel Herbert Jones OBE and Sergeant Ian John McKay both of The Parachute Regiment.

That bloke is nails, seriously hard man.

While his head remained out of the hatch, to enable him to see the route ahead, he was directly exposed to much of this fire, and was himself hit by a 7.62mm bullet, which penetrated his helmet and remained lodged on its inner surface.
He was hit in the helmet by a bullet, and whilst in a burning vehicle being hit by RPG still managed to drive, then pull two guys out.

Awesome truely awesome, can't describe how much respect I have for this guy.

Yea it was pretty cool, I particularly like this bit:

As the smoke in his driver's tunnel cleared, he was just able to make out the shape of another rocket-propelled grenade in flight heading directly towards him.

He pulled the heavy armoured hatch down with one hand, whilst still controlling his vehicle with the other.

However, the overpressure from the explosion of the rocket wrenched the hatch out of his grip, and the flames and force of the blast passed directly over him, down the driver's tunnel, further wounding the semi-conscious gunner in the turret.

The impact of this rocket destroyed Beharry's armoured periscope, so he was forced to drive the vehicle through the remainder of the ambushed route, some 1,500 metres long, with his hatch opened up and his head exposed to enemy fire, all the time with no communications with any other vehicle...

"Nuff respect" for keeping his head! (excuse the pun)

Now, when does the game come out and will it be multiplayer
