And for the life of me, I can't remember which way the debate was solved!

Ironically the Fox's variety, whilst actually called Moo, failed at being proper moo-cow biscuits imo by having a cartoon face and not proper cows on them. It seems they and the mini Moo are no more: "The launch of Mini Moos Choc Chip will be supported by in-store price promotions and PR activity to build awareness of the product which has been created to build upon the success of Mini Moos Malted Milk." Sorry to point out the holes in your system, but you're going to either need a tier 8 or a Tier 2.1

I regret to say that the Happy Face was renamed in my family owing to the resemblance of one of them to a cross-eyed neighbour because of the config of jam in the eyeballs. They have also been consigned to history it seems, sadly (as has the neighbour). Quite a few of those faces were more sinister than happy actually..

I'm more concerned that you haven't even mentioned Lebkuchen or Ouma Rusks, the latter especially if you're a 'dunker'!!
Lebkuchen I'd honestly forgotten. Too few and far between to register as nostalgia, at least for me. Maybe tier 3?

If you're putting out two plates, one with slices of cakes and one with a selection of biscuits where are you putting the jaffas?

    Sorted.

That's hilarious! So our family nomenclature was actually quite accurate in retrospect

i think we have forgotten an essential.

a key corner stone to utter quality.

one of the finest, consistently awesome biscuits of all time,

    Choco Leibniz

on a whole 'nother plane of existence.

if you have never... then I suggest you do... soon

It isn't a Chocolate Hobnob though, is it. The true king of biscuits (and sadly calories, though perhaps the two are related).

I'm sat here with a cup of coffee though, and feel that a plain digestive biscuit (or three) is missing. Context can be key

Well, they're still in business and still marketed as Jaffa Cakes.... Also, Trading Standards officers have been informed that they are most definitely cakes.

TBH, I think they're more gingerbread, which is kinda more like cake than biscuit...

Either way, get yerself some nice South African rusks, aka Beskuit or concrete - You won't ever go back to normal, boring biscuits!

    Re: Malted milk biscuits ftw

Dare I forward an alternative to Leibniz biscuits, which imho actually improves upon the same formula...

It's a French supermarket 'own-brand' biscuit, which is very similar to Leibniz but with one important difference...a much thicker slab of chocolate, resulting in a much higher chocolate to biscuit ratio. If you're ever travelling through France, they're definitely worth trying out for yourself!
