    Re: Malted milk biscuits ftw

Adding a new tier for all these Leibnitz/Casino foreign variations on a theme...

    Heavenly Tier -
    Scottish Shortbread

    Ecstatic Tier -
    Garibaldi
    Malted Milk
    Home-made Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
    Brandy Snaps
    Ginger Nuts

    Excited Tier -
    Hobnob
    Chocolate Hobnob
    Jaffa Cakes**
    Chocolate Digestives
    Lebkuchen

    'Ooh Go Then' Tier -
    Fruit Shortcake
    Custard Creams
    Bourbons
    Nice
    Jammie Dodgers
    Chocolate Fingers

    'Ta Very Much' Tier
    Rich Tea*
    Digestives*
    Butter Biscuits

    'What's that?' Tier - ***
    Leibnitz
    Casino

    'If there's nothing else' Tier
    Fox's Crunch Creams

    'If I Have To' Tier
    Stale biscuits

'I would do anything for love...' Tier -
    Pink Wafers

    ----------------------------------

*Rich Tea and Digestives move up a tier if I'm having a cuppa at the same time.

**Anyone that suggests Jaffas are a cake and not a biscuit needs to have a word with themselves.

***What's that?' Tier = Cheap substitutes that are neither exotic enough to stand out nor so good that they can't be ignored. As in:

    "Here, have a Leibnitz..."
    "What's that?"
"A plain biscuit with chocolate on it?"
"Have you not got any chocolate digestives?"
    "No."
    "How about a chocolate hobnob?"
    "No."
"What are you trying to be, posh or something?"
    "You don't want my biscuits?"
"Have you not got anything else?"
    "No."
"How about a Kit-Kat?... Blue Riband?... Alright, go on then."

-- In fairness to Zak33 and Jim I'll have to try those specific brands because maybe they're legitimately good (I mean, who am I to ignore Zak and Mr. Jim?) however, I've had biscuits that look similar and wasn't impressed.

It is official - The court has decreed that they're cakes: https://www.gov.uk/hmrc-internal-man...food/vfood6260

Hmm...why have a tea that tastes like malty biscuits, when you could just have tea WITH a malty biscuit?

Quite the opposite, both literally and metaphorically... (up north and I have actual experience of the subject matter, i.e my job involves biscuits)

It does surprise me that some shops only do small packets of custard creams. If you are going to get such a "sample" size packet, then get one of those combined custard cream/nice/malted milk combo packets.

No-one want s small packet (fnarr).

Edit: I have a mug of coffee (bean to cup thanks to a Hexus thread some time back, still enjoying the results ) and this time a plain digestive. Combo bonus X10 !

I am in no way a fan of rhubard, yet feel compelled to find out.

This thread is starting to cost me quite a lot - my third extra packet of biscuits added to me weekly shop!

*may not contain any actual rhubarb* (unless it's the unspecified 'flavouring', you'd think they'd have to say what flavouring, theoretically it could be anything)

Compelled is definitely the word, despite the 27p per 100g as opposed to 11p price hike, which doesn't seem entirely to be warranted

I love some of the reviews of those biscuits:

Then tried one on 5 year old grandson who just cried when he thought he had to eat the entire biscuit!
