    Coronavirus - Folding@home

Just in case anyone's not aware, F@H are now lending computing resources to potential Covid-19 treatments: https://foldingathome.org/2020/02/27...-19-2019-ncov/

I can't claim to know a great deal about it, but given plenty of people were happy to donate resources to make a quick buck a few years ago, maybe people will donate to a good medical cause? Of course the virus isn't the only important running project but maybe it will encourage some people to consider getting back into it, or trying it out for the first time?

I've decided to give it a go again, and having just set it up (currently anonymous) I have what I believe is a cancer-related CPU project, and got a Covid-19 one on GPU straight away, so I imagine they're giving it a high priority.

really? Will this help. Timelines are too tight. I think this will be far more expedient: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-44439515

Turns out cleverer people than me thought so too!

It's not a case of all-or-nothing. Folding@home acts as a large distributed supercomputer which complements efforts such as the one you linked, not instead of.

    Re: Coronavirus - Folding@home

Heh, I did search but nothing came up about this so posted in the old thread.

I'm out of the UK atm but it would be good to put the 6700K to use finally - and for a good cause!
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

It looks like so many people have signed up recently that they're struggling to keep up with work units. My GPU was sitting idle for a while before getting another unit to work on. https://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?p=312692#p312692

    Re: Coronavirus - Folding@home

Absolutely. Check the bottom post on this page: https://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.p...art=90#p312858

I think that's only referring to one team, but they've seen a huge increase in performance. I tried to look for global performance stats but couldn't find any. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?

It seems the processing power of the distributed system is something to be reckoned with: https://www.anandtech.com/show/15661...d-for-covid-19

Folding here. I'm getting about two thirds Covid related units

Saving money on home heating too...
