UK coronavirus mass home testing to be made available 'within days'
Re: UK coronavirus mass home testing to be made available 'within days'
They'll be sold out within hours.
Half the buyers will be stockpiling, so they can test themselves once a day, plus every time they get back home from shopping and social distancing events.
The other half will be stockpiling for resale at massively inflated prices.

In the Independent article it says available in Boots. Boots from Day 1 stopped people buying stuff in large quantities like Calpol so with a bit of luck they will only allow 2 per customer even though people will keep returning to the stores

Now they are saying it will be available in the "near future" apparently:

It's an antibody test too, which means you'll know if you've had it and not noticed, and are now immune. Badly needed to reduce the panic.
Re: UK coronavirus mass home testing to be made available 'within days'
Oh are they now sure if you've had it you can't get it again/carry it? Wasn't sure that was the case?

It would be interesting to see if any survivors of the 2002-2004 SARS outbreak have contracted this strain.
While Coronaviruses don't mutate like the flu, we routinely get seasonal colds as a result of coronaviruses, as our immunity lapses over time. It remains to be seen if this virus will act in the same way. Possibly there will be a period of time after which your protection drops and you are susceptible to a likely milder case of the disease. Given how few infected people have symptoms, it's likely to be a non-issue at that point.
Re: UK coronavirus mass home testing to be made available 'within days'
I think the general consensus is that if you have had it you will probably be immune, at least for a short while. It's impossible to say conclusively until enough data has been analysed.
