Is online grocery shopping working yet?
And if so, can someone recommend a supermarket that has got their act together and seems to have a lot of slots?
My car's just been taken out of action while it was on my drive and my insurance mandated repairers won't fix it as I'm not a key worker. :/
Re: Is online grocery shopping working yet?
Have been fine with Tesco but quite probably because I have a delivery plan with them, I have noticed that the amount of tweets they are getting about slots seem to be declining steadily from the peak, if that's any indication that the recruiting is working; however there is never anything closer than 4 weeks ahead afaik.
Iceland release their slots at 11am Mon-Fri, again, not sure for how far ahead, they seem to be accepting new customers ok and apparently are actually doing better than some - https://www.thegrocer.co.uk/online/i...604599.article
Any of the M&S stores any good to you? https://www.heart.co.uk/lifestyle/fo...livery-sevice/
Sorry about your car btw.
Re: Is online grocery shopping working yet?
More and more slots seem to be available now.
Try Tesco or Morrisons and also Iceland seem to have a few
I have had better luck with Tesco, booked one yesterday for delivery Monday, guess it depends where you live etc

Wow :O_o1: impressive, I'm working on a rolling book-ahead basis, there would be no point me going in now trying to get anything in the shorter term.
Re: Is online grocery shopping working yet?
Its been getting better down here in the Southwest, Iceland pretty much has slots available all the time for a few days later, morrisons generally always has click and collect for about a weeks time, Tesco is hit and miss though they do seem to have more slots now.
Sainsburys haven't bothered with as they won't let new customers register and Asda never ever found a slot available at any time with them.
Re: Is online grocery shopping working yet?
The wife checked out the new M&S service, but Deliveroo don't cover our area in SE Wales.
Waitrose were taking bookings three months ahead, when this all started, so hopefully will finally see some free slots open up locally in another six weeks time! However their collect outside shop service is now showing free slots. (Speaking as someone well into retirement, who may have to continue home deliveries until we can get an effective vaccination or catch the bug..).
Our village volunteers weekly kindly deliver from bulk drops from a greengrocer and a baker. Plus a butcher does a weekly delivery round. But that leaves lots of things like breakfast cereals and a load of general things including the umm proverbial loo paper that would have been part of our weekly Waitrose shop in the local town.
Hopefully demand will also reduce, as people are back at work.
Re: Is online grocery shopping working yet?
Iceland release their slots for the next day daily between 11 and half past and is really easy to get a slot
Re: Is online grocery shopping working yet?
Just walk to the shops. The extra exercise will be justification for buying yourself an extra cream cake while you're there! :D

I can make my own delicious cream cakes thank you :p (When I can buy the ingredients, at least)
But yeah, I do walk the 3 miles to the nearest supermarket, it could be a lot worse, it is just a bit hard on the old arms if I need to get anything bulky and it takes a lot of time out of the day. Cycling happens for anything small enough to fit in a rucksack.

OK,I noticed Tesco and Sainsburys having some free slots, and I never saw any before. Might be worth just checking all of them periodically.
Re: Is online grocery shopping working yet?
We find it hit and miss. Mrs ik9000 is all over this and we have some sort of rolling slot but even then only every fortnight so we have a normal week and a lean week which is tolerable with planning and relies on making a lot week 1 and freezing it for week 2. Running out of milk is a royal PITA though.
Re: Is online grocery shopping working yet?
I just cancelled a click and collect slot tomorrow, they still aren't showing all they have available online so going to go in there as bigger selection
Re: Is online grocery shopping working yet?
Being in London, I have attempted to get a delivery slot for the past 7 weeks with all the big names, Tesco, Sainsburys, Asda, Morrisons, and the only slot I eventually managed to get was with Tesco, 20 days from the date I managed to book.
Re: Is online grocery shopping working yet?
I've not even looked to be honest - all I hear is that they slots are constantly taken and unless you are there and ready when they release one...you are SOL. Prime now is just as bad.
Personally I have been using Deliveroo/Uber eats instead - near me they cover Morrisons, Co-op, the corner shop and petrol station (??) - I have mostly used it to get things from the co-op as its only £2.50 delivery and they have a really wide range of essentials. Even got some flour last week. Luckily I have a milk man still and he is still delivering so no issues with milk, juice or if i want them veg/other basics - he will deliver any of it and is pretty close to supermarket prices.
Worth a look to see if any are working your area still.
I do see the vans from all the major supermarkets constantly up and down our street though so they are clearly out there and delivering - just requires a level of planning and commitment that I don't quite have for my shopping ;)

Yeah?
Feel free to prove it....
In fact, why not shoot a cooking video for HEXUS's affiliated Cranble site? Gives ya summat to do during lockdown! :D
Meanwhile, get some dogs and kit them out with carry-vests to give you extra shopping room. My little pack are used to carrying their own stuff, so they don't bat an eyelid when called in to pull their own weight in household maintenance tasks like this. I recommend Labradors...
These are pretty good: https://www.onetigris.com/tactical-dog-pack-01.html
